Motorcycle Winterization

No matter how hard you fight it, winter is coming. Soon the snow will be falling and you'll be forced to park your bike until next spring. If you think all you need to do is toss a cover over it, or park it in the garage, you'll likely have a nasty surprise when springtime arrives. The last thing you want to find out when riding season resumes is that your bike won't start. Here at Freeride Powersports we don't just sell motorcycles at low discount prices, but we also sell all the accessories and OEM parts to go with that bike, even what is needed for winterization.

Starting with the body itself, it is best to store a clean bike that has been freshly washed and waxed to prevent rust and corrosion. You can find some really good waxes in our online catalogs, as well as covers for your nice clean bike.

Protecting the engine itself of course is the most important. Rather than storing your bike with old broken down dirty oil, try changing it out at the end of riding season with a good winter weight oil. You'll find firing up that ride much smoother come riding time.

Any part of your motorcycle that needs to be lubed at any point should be lubed again before storage. We sell top shelf lube to keep your moving parts from corroding under the harshness of old man winter.

As for the fuel tank, instead of going old school and emptying the tank, a better way to winterize is to fill the tank with fresh clean fuel and fuel stabilizer. This keeps your tank from rusting from the inside out.

Then of course there is the battery. We call know that the cold will sap the energy right out of a battery, especially when not in use. We sell a variety of battery tenders that monitor and keep your battery charged throughout the winter, without having to remove it from your bike.

You can find these and all your other winterization needs in our online catalogs. Both OEM and aftermarket accessories and parts all offered to you at every day low discount prices. So don't let yourself find any nasty surprises next spring when you fire your bike back up for the first time. Be prepared, be smart, shop with Freeride Powersports.
